Ultimate Wedding Week: The Ceremony

Sorry I'm a little late posting this, I've been out all day! I am excited to link up with Natasha for another part of The Ultimate Wedding Week! Today is of course the ceremony!

I am so excited to share picture with you all from our wedding ceremony. Let me just give you a little background as to what was going on the week of our wedding. There was a huge hurricane that hit lots of New England, causing LOTS of power outages in the area. We had friends and family that didn't have power for 5 days. That being said, guess which town was struck the worst in the state of CT? Yup, you guessed it...the town of Branford, CT which is where our wedding was! I can honestly say that I did not get stressed at all leading up to our wedding, except when I realized that our rehearsal dinner restaurant, the church and our reception venue all did not have power. We were basically planning on doing everything via candlelight, since we had chose to have a later ceremony and reception. Now this is where it gets crazy...the day of our rehearsal dinner, I got a call from the church secretary telling me that the power had been restored in Branford! I can not even tell you how excited I was, and how thankful I was that everything was going to be okay. I was blown away, knowing that God did hear our prayers and was truly looking out for us. It's crazy what prayer and faith can do, especially when it's regarding NO POWER! :)

All that being said, we wound up having a wonderful ceremony with the lights on! A church friend offered to play piano for us, and he played various hymns as guests arrived. I had my girls walk do to Ben Folds "The Luckiest" and I walked down to "Canon in D" (of course!). My older brother did a reading of Philippians 2 and my sister sang "Only You Can Love Me This Way" as my brother-in-law accompanied her on the guitar. We also did a congregational signing of "Be Thou My Vision" which is one of our favorite hymns. We wanted the ceremony to reflect who we are as a couple, so we chose to write our own vows to each other, which was totally my favorite part. I was just so excited during the whole ceremony, because it was so special to us in so many ways. It was such an honor to have all of our friends and family witness the day we dedicated our lives to one another before God.

Here are some of my favorite from our ceremony, hope you enjoy!
